Lipica and Sečovlje salt pans – the first is the cradle of the world famous Lipizzaner horses, the second is a coastal wetland area. In the morning we visit the Lipica stud farm, in the afternoon we visit the Sečovlje salt-pans landscape park. This landscape, shaped by man, is a result of centuries old tradition of salt extracting, which has not changed in time. A walk through the medieval historic town of Piran before we go home will make this outdors experience complete.
Bus departs at 7.00 am from Celje (other places of departure can be arranged) via Ljubljana and arrives to Lipica around 9.30. A tour of the Lipica farm, which is the cradle of the world famous Lipizzaner horses, includes a thirty-minute carriage ride. Next, we drive to Sečovlje and dine at one of the local inns. Around 3 pm we head to the Sečovlje salt-pans landscape park. The park and salt extracting process is presented also in the museum using models. Finally, we visit Piran, some free time available for a coffee or a stroll. We arrive to Celje in the evening.
