Bus departs at 7:30 am from Ljubljana. In Muljava, a local guide will be joining us on board and a guided tour along the River of Love can begin. Going past the Slak homestead, a carpentry workshop on the Blatna street and the house of Tomaž, a fisherman, we reach the chapel where Marija and Angelca had a fight. Then we walk by the Medved family house, Mojca and Franc’s place, after which we get picked up by the bus and left on the parking lot. From here we walk across the bridge of love and continue to the spring of the Krka and the Krška jama cave. The hearts with the inscription The River of Love are available here. On the way back, we go past the house of Jože, a fisherman and a watchman.
Our next destination is Novo mesto. When we arrive, we board the Rudolf raft and move along a meander of the river Krka. This meander embraces the city and the ride is fascinating. We are able to see the sights from a different angle as we move under three bridges, pass Castle Kamen and Novi dvor mansion (today’s hospital). Perhaps the most imposing is the Cathedral of St Nikolaj, which dominates the top of the hill, while the slope, named Breg, remains popular among the painters. We also see the Franciscan church and the monastery. On the raft, however, Novo mesto and the Krka are presented in another way by some animators. A participant of our group will become an honorary member of Rudolf’s rafters, receiving a certificate for this occasion. Lunch is served on raft.
This beautiful location along the Krka river is an opportunity to take some free time before we head to Otočec. Although we will not visit the interior of the castle, there is plenty to see around Castle Otočec and the sorroundings. We leave in the afternoon and arrive to Ljubljana around 5.30 pm.
