A Disability-Friendly Certificate is available to providers of tourist services. Depending on the criteria set, the tourist providers may be in compliance with basic requirements, advanced requirements or in full compliance. Consequently, the providers are entitled to:
basic certificate,
silver certificate or
gold certificate.
In 2013 the brand Disability Friendly Certificate was revised and became available to companies, public and private organizations.
The compliance is approved by a commission, consisting of three members: a local social welfare representative, a tourist professional and a representative of people with specific needs.
The recipients of disability friendly certificates are registered in a European database.They are eligible to free advertising materials, counselling, information on legislation, policies and updates on events related to equal participation of people with specific needs.
The award ceremony takes place once a year and all new recipients are awarded their certificates.
